Talking about second life in class i was having mixed feelings about it. The idea of creating a charactor online and actually interacting with others as if it were real life troubles me. I have never been into any virtual reality games and the idea of a game that cost actual money and you interact with people you have no idea who they really are just does not seem fun or interesting to me. Plus online interaction doesn't allow you to fully ingage with someone and see facial expressions giving away there feelings. I have always been the type to want to go out and meet people and would never be interested in using the computer to meet people.
Having these feelings and being told that we have to engage in second life poses certains issues for me. On the other hand cause i never get involved in stuff like this having to get involved for class will help me gain more knowledge about the virtual world. I can also see what it is like from another perspective creating someone that is not at all like me. I feel although i am skeptical about it, it can be used as a good learning experience.
